This week, two eighth-grade leadership groups hosted another Carline Bake/Treat Sale. The Student Council sold treats along the carline path and helped to distribute junior-high materialsfor pick-up. In addition, the 8th Grade Girls Leadership Council hosted a bake sale to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, whose mission is “to prevent and cure breast cancer by advancing the world’s most promising research” (bcrf.org). Several members of the group made pink cookies to sell, with an end goal of raising $100 for the reputable organization. We are happy to report that the carline bake sale was a huge success, thanks to the generosity of teachers, administrators, staff, parents, students, and neighbors! The group far surpassed its fundraising goal, collecting $242 to be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Way to go, ladies!
Also this week, we welcomed interested 7th and 8th grade students back to campus for a fun two hours of safe socializing and physical fitness. The Junior High began its Wellness through Fitness program on Wednesday, Nov. 11th, as an extension of our Wellness Wednesday offering. For interested students, the Junior High is offering a safe opportunity to connect with fellow classmates and enjoy the beauty of our campus. Students are grouped in cohorts of twelve or fewer and engage in physical outdoor activity with masks on the field and other areas around the campus. All students undergo temperature checks upon arrival and are required to complete the COVID-19 screening on the Magnus Health App before arriving on campus.
A special thanks to Mr. Valiulis, Mrs. Huezo, Mr. Mejia, Mr. Cutter, and Mrs. Zeiss who have volunteered to supervise cohorts during our Wellness Through Fitness program. From hiking the hill to socially distanced games of Knock Out, Mafia, and kickball, we had a blast together, enjoying some much-needed Wellness Through Fitness!
